Clear Creek Youth Center located south of Carson City was built by the federal government as a Job Corps center. In 1969, the federal government closed the center and in 1970 the State of Nevada obtained a special use permit to operate the center as a state facility. In February of 1988, ownership was transferred to the State of Nevada. The center provides meeting space for community groups and organizations such as Boy and Girl Scouts of America, Nevada Girls State, BLM fire crew training, and also adult organizations.
